BJ Penn Is Going Down, Gray Maynard Deliriously Happy

BJ Penn lost lol. It’s hard to believe that a mixed martial artist of Penn’s caliber can drop a decision twice. What’s more surprising is that Frankie Edgar got the takedown several times. Let me remind you that even GSP and his amazing crotch-power had trouble UFC 94.

Dare I say it. I am impressed. And as for Penn, I’m telling you he’s blowing chunks. He’s gotta be frustrated, having lost quite clearly to Edgar. No sinus infection to blame tonight. I wonder what’s next for him. He’s certainly not in the picture for a lightweight title shot. He’ll probably have to climb the ladder again: go against contenders and *gulp* up-and-comers. Man it’s going to be weird seeing Penn having to make the rounds again. But hey! Now he’ll be able to fight Takanori Gomi. I want to see Penn vs. Gomi 2 happen. It’s perfect. Penn is going down. Gomi is coming up. Plus, Gomi showed that he could still punch after his face-first knockout over Tyson Griffin.

Gray Maynard’s probably quite satisified as well. He beat out Kenny Florian by sitting on him most of the fight. I remember thinking earlier today, “I hope Maynard wins tonight. He’ll do great against Penn when he gets back the title.” I lol thinking back on this moment. Maynard is also probably loling right now. He’s the only guy to blemish Edgar’s near-perfect record and he’ll walk in later to challenge Frankie for the belt.
