I’m not a boxing fan but Manny Pacquiao’s performance tonight is one that you compare with GSP’s or Anderson Silva’s – unstoppable as it is dominant.
Pacman landed 182 punches against Mosley’s 82, and threw more than twice as many punches, 552 to 260. In short Pacquiao lit his man up.
Oddly enough, Mosley technically knocked Pacquiao down but if you watch the replays, it looked awfully like a trip. Think Dicky Ecklund vs. Sugar Ray (Thanks Christian Bale I remember now!)
I was kind of hoping for a knockout, maybe a crisp right hand on Shane Mosley’s face. Like *POW!*
But just like how Pacquiao won’t submit to random drug testing, there is always an excuse.
His legs. They were bothering him.
“In the middle rounds my legs got tight… my legs were hurt.” Ok.
Aside from this weird leg cramp thing, Manny Pacquiao is on a freaking roll. A lot of boxing analysts question whether or not there are true threats left in any division. I want him to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. but there’s that pesky random drug testing that Pacman simply isn’t too cool with. For the time being this guy has to go back to the Philippines to tend to his congressional duties. He’s very busy you see.
Also, second thought. Is Shane Mosley getting old? I mean he’s an excellent fighter but he looked old tonight.
Shane Mosley:
“I thought I did a pretty good job. I wouldn’t blame it on age, Manny is an exceptional fighter. Good speed and power. Power that I’ve never been hit with before. It’s amazing. He’s fast. He’s strong. He’s a warrior… This guy is amazing right here.”
Manny Pacquiao, Mr. P4P, you are one of the greatest of all time.
Please come over to the UFC and fight BJ Penn.
