Brock Lesnar better be writhing in something ungodly right now.
I was absolutely stoked to have his face punched in by Junior Dos Santos come UFC 131 but sadly Lesnar has delayed this outcome by being a jackass and picking up diverticulitis.
If you don’t already know, having diverticulitis basically means that your own colon has betrayed you. My guess is Lesnar must’ve denied himself vegetables, fearing that they’d make him weak or a communist as most learned people irrevocably know. I’ll let wiki cover the rest of this horrific disease. A picture too if you want to see it (actually DON’T CLICK IT, I don’t even know why I even put this crap up!!!)
Lesnar’s been sick for the past three months and was put on antibiotics. He’s talked to doctors at the Mayo clinic and decided that it’s best if he pulled out of the fight.
“It didn’t allow me to train at my full capabilities… It wouldn’t have been fair. My health is No. 1, my family is No. 1 and it was a hard decision. I’m choked up about it, and there’s nothing I can do.”
This is astoundingly bad. First Frankie Edgar hurts himself so the original draw (Edgar vs. Maynard) is no longer on for UFC 130. Now Lesnar is sidelined for UFC 131. The UFC must be losing a lot of potential revenues from this, and that somehow cheers me right back up.
I hear Share Carwin is going to take on Dos Santos now. That sounds quite interesting actually. I’m hoping Carwin takes out Junior so he gets Cain Velasquez. Now that would be a wreck fest. I think they were even supposed to fight as early as UFC 99 when the two heavyweights were just contenders.
Anyway, baby steps. Lesnar will probably be back early 2012 and he insists that “this isn’t the end…” Darn.
